Ditch Expensive Travels, Home Staycation Is In!

Everyone is done with books and pens and is ready for sunglasses and swimwears! The favorite part of the year has officially started. For a lot of people, summer means going to the beach with the family, spending plane tickets for travel, staying in hostels, beating the heat and simply enjoying the moment. One big concern though is the budget for all these things.

There are many ways to go on a vacation and creating one at home is a trending option nowadays known as the Home Staycation.

Home Staycation is also known as holistay. It means spending quality time at home doing leisure activities without having to travel miles and miles away. It also denotes relaxation and unwinding with close friends and family without the disturbance from work. It gained immense popularity in the United States between the period of 2007-2010 where people need to work with a tighter traveling budget.

Home Staycation does not necessarily mean you just have to stay within the four walls of your home. There is a variety of activities that go with fun at home.

1. Go to the nearest beach or pool

Living near the coast, lake, or water reservoir is already an opportunity to freshen one's body. If your home has a pool, then it is time to fill it up with water and go for a refreshing plunge or dip. Inflatable pools will also do. With cold drinks and chips, you are good to go!

2. Do biking, roller skating, or skateboarding

Liven up your empty streets with bikes and skates. Teaching your nieces and nephews how to do some tricks is a great bonding activity. Besides, getting active, doing physical activities, and sharpening the mind are good for the overall well being.

3. Relax and take a nap

Home staycation is not all about physical activities. It is also a time to relax and catch up on sleep. Have a good nap in a hammock or a gazebo. Feel the gentle breeze as the open structure of a gazebo lets the wind get in and out.

4. Read a book

For those who have piles of unread books, it is time to start absorbing those stories while letting your imagination run wild. Reading books is both educational and therapeutic. Travel to the imaginary realms of fantasy as you create your personal mental escape. .

5. Enjoy movie marathons

Horror, romance, comedy, or action movies are fun along with some friends and drinks. Invite friends to crash overnight at your backyard and enjoy endless stories of your fond memories.

6. Play board and card games with your love ones

Teach your kids about old school fun with board games like Chess, Scrabble, Snake and Ladder, among others. Have a little card game with food as bets for motivation. Let your kids know how you used to call entertainment and allow them to immerse into the nostalgic fun where the internet net and social media didn't exist.

This year, staying put at home can be a fun option for a summer experience. Discover the hidden enjoyment you could indulge yourself and your family in.
