How to Weather-proof your Outdoor Furniture

There is no use in jumping on a shopping spree for outdoor furnishings if you don't know a thing or two about how it works. The outdoors is different than the safe and protected environment inside our homes. Placing furniture on a patio or on your garden patches is much more prone to harsh factors like the climate. If you don't know how to look after your outdoor set, here are simple tips that you can do to weather-proof your furniture:

Purchase Water-proof Furniture

If you happen to plan about buying a set of outdoor furniture, always go with the ones that are water-proof. An example of furniture created for the outdoors is a rattan made out of polyresin.

Apply Preventive Measures

If, unfortunately, you already have pieces of outdoor furniture that are not made to last long outside, you can still find ways to protect them. You can apply marine varnish, waterproof lacquer or tung oil as protection from constant downpours.

Have Cleaning Sessions

Always have the time to at least clean your outdoor furniture every few months. Cleaning removes any dust or other debris that may attach and wear your furniture. You can simply wipe off any dirt with a sponge and some warm soapy water. Lastly, when done, cover your furniture when not in use.

Although simple, these tips will definitely save you a ton in the long run.
